many espresso beans will I have to eat to equal one shot of espresso or one small cup of coffee (about 10 ounces)? Recently I've had to make a lot of four hour trips and need to stay awake. I can't keep drinking coffee because then I have to go to the bathroom every half an hour. I've got some expresso beans and some that are covered in chocolate. I love them! Will they keep me awake....?

I've noticed that whenever I get a cup of coffee from Starbucks it almost always tastes bitter and burnt. I have read that this is because they roast their coffee beans at higher temperatures to roast them faster. Now this leads me to wonder if this is the same beans they sell in bags because I have tried the bagged coffee and it doesn't have the bitter and burnt taste. Perhaps it's the way I'm brewing it or maybe they roast the coffee beans at normal roasting temperatures for the bagged coffees?

I get a tall coffee for .60 here. Their prices have gone down in the recession, I think. I never paid for a cup of coffee anywhere like people say they do. Yes, you do pay that for a frappucino, but that is like getting ice cream, not coffee! Sure, I could get a bag of beans for and that would be cheaper than .60, but I find Starbucks to be fairly inexpensive. It is even less than Dunkin' Donuts last I checked!

I'm looking for a good energy drink without all the caffeine in Monster, Rockstar, Red Bull, etc. I like drinking coffee and tea, but I drink them both without any additives. I hate "coffee" drinks with a huge amount of sugar/milk. I also don't like 5-hr Energy with over 8000 times my daily dose of vitamin B.
What's a good energy drink with about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee without a lot of sugar?

I like putting eight-cups worth of instant coffee in half a cup of coffee, but it's somewhat difficult to ingest. I managed so far by drinking cold milk while taking coffee-shots, but I was wondering if any of you have other good methods.

If you had a syringe filled with the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, and injected it into your blood stream, what would happen medically? Get jittery? What would happen? Out of simple curiosity.

We bought my sister an espresso machine last April, at which time she put her regular carafe coffee machine in her basement until I needed one. Now, in August, I do need one and I got it out and went to make some coffee, but in the carafe there was probably a 1/2 cup of coffee and a bunch of grinds.
Does that stuff mould? How well do I have to clean this carafe before it's safe for me to make a cup of coffee in it? So far I've scrubbed it with a brush and regular dish soap. Seems clean, but I'm worried about bacteria.
