I have avoided caffeine much of my life because I believe it and soda and coffee in general is unhealthy
But I work from home and now have 2 young children to provide for so. I am very busy with life and work and don't get as much sleep as I need.
I have had to turn to drinking cola for the caffeine to stay awake and alert, but I think I'm getting a slight addition, not just to caffeine but also the sugar in the drinks.
I can't change my work/sleep situation, so my question is wouldn't it be a bit better to cut out the sugary drinks and just take a caffeine pill for alertness and drink water?

In terms of providing energy and alertness, is it having the same effect on the mind?
The brain needs sugar to operate, and so lots of sugar creates an elevated state of alertness and wakefulness, but does caffeine work the same way?
If I drink coffee to regain alertness when my sugar high suddenly wears off, is that bad?

I'd like to know if caffeine powder will disolve in cold water, or if I need to boil it.

I have been a horrible addict to caffeine for the longest time- it started years ago when I worked at McDonald's but then gradually it got worse over the years, now I am down to three cups of coffee a day (where as I was drinking three whole POTS) and am doing an addiction program at my church. Who else has this same problem? I'm curious, let me know your story.

I've had coffee a couple of times in my 18 year life span, I don't think it's anything special. I work in a law office where everyone has a cup of hot coffee at their desk, and I live in a home where we have multiple coffee makers and two addicted to caffeine parents (after years of drinking coffee). My question is this: I don't drink coffee nor do I purposely and specifically drink caffeine (it may be in a glass of soda or two but 95% of what I drink is caffeine free) to wake myself up or any other effect of caffeine. As I get ready for college, should I stay this way? Is it a good thing not to drink caffeine daily? Am I losing anything if I start drinking it daily? Granted, there are days I'm really tired and a little sluggish but like 80% of the time I run on my own energy as oppposed to a beverage of some sort.

I love having coffee in the morning not to mention I'm addicted to diet coke! I know I'm not supposed to have a lot of caffeine when I'm actually pregnant but I was wondering what kind of effect it would have on TTC.

Beginning about last week, i started drinking about two cups of coffee every morning, and I never drank much coffee before that... maybe an average of one cup every 6 months. I'm 18 years old and last weekend I had an outbreak of shingle's on my chest. I've had chickenpocks before. It just seems kind of strange that I got shingles after these doses of caffeine. What do you think? Cause this have caused the shingles?

This morning, I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Now I feel nausious. Why??
This has happened consistently the last 10 times I've had anything with coffee in it. This sick feeling usually stays the entire day. I used to drink it without any problem! I'm not drinking it on an empty stomach. Any suggestions?
